On Being Physical Healthy

Eating healthy is an important thing, but carbs, sugar, and junk food are soo tempting!

(Yes, I totally get that!)

You can exercise, but sometimes it can be a little too much work. Sometimes we may not have enough time to get in the exercise, and other times, we can simply just be too tired.

People believe that they can lose weight with just a food diet, but that is not necessarily true, and at times, can be unhealthy with the wrong diet. Everyone has a different body type, and everyone is already perfect the way they are. However, if you want to lose weight, you should watch your diet and make sure to exercise often. Exercise also improves your metabolism, which is great, especially in the long term.

What are some ways to stay healthy?

  • Food wise:

    • Make sure to prep your food correctly. Make sure not to cross-contaminate!

    • Eat a variety of foods (including carbs!)

    • Try to replace saturated with more unsaturated fat

    • Make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (but don’t eat only eat a salad for all your meals)

    • Try to reduce salt and sugar intake.

    • Control your portion size

      • Cook just the right amount

      • Keep to one bowl/plate for each meal

    • Make sure to get enough vitamins and calcium.

    • Try to snack healthy. Snack on fresh or dried fruits/vegetables, nuts, hummus, yoghurt, or cheese, etc.

  • Drink plenty of fluids, especially water (and water is not replaceable! Coffee is not a substitute for water! Try to drink at least 8 cups of water in addition to other liquids.)

  • Reduce alcohol intake, or don’t drink at all.

  • Don’t smoke or vape.

  • Use sunscreen!

  • Wash your hands regularly (especially during times like COVID)

  • Think positive! A positive mentality also improves your health.

Some food practices to incorporate:

  • If you ate a lunch with a lot of fat, try to eat a dinner with low-fat.

  • Try to eat less fried food

  • Watch your sodium (especially as you get older)

  • Eat fish 2-3 times a week
