Exercising as Teens

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

Exercise is an important part of keeping teens healthy. Encouraging healthy lifestyles in children and teens is important for when they grow older. Lifestyles that are learned in childhood are more likely to stay with the child into adulthood. Some changes in lifestyle can be harder to make as a person ages. Teenage years are when hormones are in a crazy state, hence why this is considered to be the best time to incorporate a healthy routine. Exercise benefits every part of the body, including the mind. It causes the body to produce chemicals that makes a person feel good and have a peaceful sleep. Exercise also lowers the risk of developing diseases. Regular exercise is important for teenagers because it helps maintain their physical and mental health. It is advised that teens should strive for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily,

aiming to spend less time being sedentary and more time being active. If you're a lazy person, who rarely works out, then start with at least 10-20 minutes of daily physical activity. Do whatever you like, for example yoga, zumba, dancing, going to the gym, etc. It is important to get yourself involved in some activities because you'll see the impact it has on your life automatically. It might be tiring and painful in the beginning but you'll start loving it eventually.
