When nothing goes your way

What does it mean to have nothing go your way?

When nothing goes your way, it can mean that things you have desired to happen didn't. For example, you wanted to get a 90 on your math test, but instead, you got a 60. On that same day, your job application for your favorite coffee shop was declined. And on that way home, it started to rain. This is an example of a day where nothing goes your way. You failed the test, got rejected from a job, and ruined all your clothes all in one day. When things don't go your way, it can mean long-term goals as well. For example, you may think that your teen years aren't going as planned; You have strict parents, no friends, and a curfew. When nothing goes your way, it usually refers to a series of failed attempts one after the other. Something that's completely normal and okay is to feel devastated after failing so many times. Advice for this feeling is to feel it out. Cry and console yourself as much as possible. What you need to remember to do is to see these failures as a redirection instead of a complete fail. When something doesn't happen, that's because something else was meant to happen for you!

Steps to take

The steps you can take are as follows:

- If something you work towards relentlessly doesn't happen, give yourself a break

-Don't emotionally attach yourself to the desired outcome. You will be heavily disappointed if the outcome takes a turn.

-Go with the flow. Don't try to control every aspect of your life.

What we must accept

We have to accept that life is unpredictable. When things don't happen the way you want them to, remember that sometimes life has other plans. For example, you may have gotten rejected from a job at your favorite coffee shop, but you just got accepted for an internship at Starbucks. Every failure is just redirection.

Remember that when nothing is going right, go left.
