More than a year has passed by with the pandemic, and without a doubt, it has been extremely hard on our mental, physical, and emotional health. We, as teenagers, need social interaction in order to grow. So how do we practice self-love practically in a world that seems so impossible?
It’s the little things that matter. You don’t have to do things extensively if they don’t work for you. For example, journaling and meditation are very popular in the media right now, especially among teenagers. However, if these things don’t calm you, then what’s the point of doing them? Don’t waste your time doing mindless things that will only stress you out even more. Find a routine that works for you, and incorporate things that you love doing and the things that make you happy. This can be reading a book, watching your favorite tv show, or even listening to music.
The importance of stepping away from your phone is vast. In a world where everything is online, even school. It is crucial to give your eyes a break from staring at a screen by practicing some of your hobbies, going on a walk, or even taking a nap. Rest your body and your mind, and the rest will follow.
Please remember to take care of yourselves, and don’t let yourself fall into a hole of misery and sadness. There is happiness if you know where to look for it, and you have to teach yourself to appreciate the little things such as waking up early or finding a missing sock. :)
