It's Okay to be Alone

For so long, society has instilled the idea of friendships, relationships, and being in a group setting. However, what we fail to realize is, it’s okay to be alone sometimes. In moderation, we as humans should spend time alone and spend time in a social setting. We don’t have to go to parties all the time, have many friends, or be in a relationship to be happy.

Spending this time in quarantine has forced a lot of us to be alone, whether that is a positive or negative thing. We can use this time to focus more on ourselves rather than working so hard to please others and to make others happy.

Spend time alone to reflect on yourself. What makes you happy? What do you want to do in the present, in the future? How are you going to instill change in your life? Without the constant influence of others whether it be peers or family, we can take this time to just think and to just relax.

Of course, many people are different, and some people are characterized as very “extroverted” meaning they often love social interaction and meeting new people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, just like there is nothing wrong with being introverted or somewhere in between. No matter who you are, what your personality is like, we all need to realize that spending time with yourself allows you to fall in love (or back in love) with who you are and make the necessary changes you need to make in your life.

Find what makes you happy, and do that. Once again, it is okay to be alone, and it is okay to be with yourself :)
