How to Avoid Burnout

Focusing on your mental health is so important. Especially when everything is online, it is so easy to encounter burnout and lose motivation. Here are some simple tips to avoid burnout. However, we all need to remember that it is okay to feel stressed and tired sometimes. That’s just a part of life, and we can’t avoid our emotions. School and extracurriculars are extremely hard, and I empathize with everyone’s situations.

  1. Know your own limits. You can’t expect to do everything and to be perfect. When you feel yourself start to get stressed out, take a step back, and restart. Don’t be afraid to let go of commitments if it is getting too much for you.

  2. Take a break. This is so important. You are allowed to take breaks, and you are allowed to focus on yourself. Prioritize what makes you happy, or you will risk reaching your breaking point.

  3. Take things one at a time. Don’t let your assignments pile up because that will only lead to more stress on you.

  4. Find motivation. It is so difficult to motivate yourself right now, but you can always contact a friend or a family member, and ask for help.

  5. Do something mindful and simple such as going on walks or meditating. It can make a world of a difference for you.
