Exercise Basics

We all know that exercise comes with many benefits, such as weight loss, health improvements and many more. However, there are plenty of people who don’t know how to incorporate exercise into their daily routines or where to begin. There are different kinds of workouts that target different areas of the body and have varying levels of difficulty, as well.

One type of exercise is aerobic. The word aerobic means “with oxygen” and is more commonly known as cardio. The difficulty can range low intensity to high intensity, with activities like walking, running, and swimming. While participating in these workouts, your heart rate and breathing should increase as you continue to exercise more.

The next type of exercise is known as anaerobic. These exercises are high intensity and only last for a short amount of time. Instead of using oxygen like aerobic exercises do, it creates energy without oxygen. A common training technique for anaerobic exercise is HIIT, of High Intensity Interval Training. Other examples are sprinting, weight lifting, and plyometrics.

The last common type of exercise is called flexibility. Stretching is another name for this kind of workout. Doing this kind of exercise improves the movement of your joints and muscles. It is low intensity and shouldn’t cause you to feel pain of any sort. Yoga is the most popular flexibility workout and can help you improve your range-of-motion.

Consistency is the most important thing when trying to add exercise into your life. Make it a habit to keep up with it even when you don’t want to. It may get hard, but push through it because you will get results and feel better in the end.
